Do you let a screenplay languish in a slush pile when it has the potential to bring Ryan Reynolds and Channing Tatum together? You obviously don’t! As a result, a number of businesses, such as Warner Bros., Amazon, and Netflix, are all putting up large bids to win the new, prospective project. Filmmakers Aaron and Adam Nee, who previously collaborated on The Lost City with actor Channing Tatum, are also attached to the film Calamity Hustle (at least for the time being).
The Hollywood Reporter claims that the tale revolves around a struggling former Los Angeles officer who became a private investigator. Following his downfall at the hands of a violent crime boss, he has to find his estranged brother who has interfered with a diamond theft.
Even if one of the corporations closes the contract, production wouldn’t start right away because the script needs some work, and you can be sure that both actors will want to contribute.
The relationship between Netflix and Amazon is intriguing because the Nee brothers were involved on a Masters of the Universe film at the former, but it is currently slated for the latter. Before too long, we’ll see how everything settles down.
